Air Traffic Control (ATC), an organization founded on belief in the power of music, the influence of musicians, and the ability that music fans have to make social change, recently featured Rock for a Remedy and State Radio in 2009 and Beyond: A Call for Community Service in their first monthly e-newsletter under President Obama.
“State Radio continues to do great work in this realm of activism and provides an effective and inspiring example of how artists can get involved. For example, on stops along their tours, the members of State Radio often organize and/or participate in pre-show volunteer service projects with their fans at local food banks and soup kitchens in conjunction with local non-profits and community organizations on the ground. They have set up a website, StateRadioAction, to keep track of these projects and links fans directly to the social action events in their city.”
The article links out to another story on the band, highlighting Calling All Crows and State Radio’s partnerships with Rock for a Remedy and Amnesty International.
ATC supports musicians and managers who want to be engaged in social change by providing the resources and backing they need to make it happen.
